Bloggingly Yours
Today we take time out to answer questions randomly hurled to yours truly by anonymous senders, whose identities may be truly yours.
Dear blog-kada,
Ano ho ba ang blog? Anong pauso ho ba yan? Pano ba mag blog? May bayad ba yan?
- PerstaymerDear Perstaymer,
Blogs or web logs are generally online (in)formal journals maintained by individuals or groups to record experiences, works, events, observations and views, among other things, commonly in a chronology. Not a few bloggers write snippets of their lives or the lives of others, if not the lack thereof, in either or both. I thought I had to anticipate when people would start blogging about blogging. I was wrong. They are doing it now, they are living it now.
No idea as to who started this. Try Google. I suspect, since the net started, blogs – loosely described - have been there all along if we think about all those electronic documentations of how one could possibly validate existence ( e.g. Welcome to my website! It’s all about me. Oh yes, I wanna be adored!).
How to blog: More than the speedy internet connection, the writing skills, the dynamic html blah-blah knowledge, more than the bazillion friendster buddies you have for your target audience, the basic requirement really is whether you got the nerve (imagined or otherwise) to actually believe you have something interesting to write about. Blogs with ready template variations to choose from are now free for everyone, so why should temerity be not.
Happy first blogging.
Bloggingly yours, blog-kada Dear blog-kada,
Call me Trinity. But that’s not too original. Scorpio384 then. Oh no, that sounds tacky. Whatever I call myself, I now hereby make a declaration: This is it! Finally, I found my writer’s voice no paper and pencil can justifiably capture. I couldn’t wait to blog I unearthed all those copious diaries way back when I first learned to write my name. I haven’t decided on the title for my blog yet, but I will not lose time. You have no idea what beauty and madness, highs and lows, perks and perils life has shown me. Vivid in my memory was this episode at the age of five, when upon the sight of a frog in our home garden where I was celebrating my birthday that afternoon, and with the children from the neighborhood all excited to…

So effing what? That is your letter, not your blog.
Bloggingly yours, blog-kada Dear blog-kada,
Blag , blag, blag , blaaaaaag! Puro kayo blag! Anong chuvaness yan?!!! Magkakapera ba ko jan, ha?
- lolita-maalindogDear lolita,
Why not, choc-not? Some online ads claim they can be monetized. You earn money as you blog while readers get a barrage of interminable pop-ups. Why, you got the site at no cost, anyway. That’s how advertising works online – aggressive, strategic, and yes, annoying (as if we don’t get the same preconditioning with the relentless Kris Aquino billboards populating EDSA). I can’t vouch for the promise of just about any hosted advertising as I have yet to encounter a blogger who made money in this whole enterprise. (And for those who actually raked in real bucks from such, hey, we can talk.)
But lest we miss the other fact: isn’t blogging self-promotion in itself? With that, lolit, if you ever get tremendously popular through your electronic autobiography, picture the fame and fortune, the glitz and glamour, the honor and honorarium in translating your work into a literary, theatrical, or cinematic opus. It’s no longer the age of Anne Frank. Make way for The Blog of Lolit Maalindog. Soon in bookstores/theatres/cyber-cinemas near you.
Bloggingly yours, blog-kada Dear blog-kada,
Gusto ko na ren mag blog. Magkaka jowa kaya ako dito?
- ballsofthunderDear ballsofthunder,
Arguably, the medium can jazz up your charisma. Adobe Photoshop may just churn in the packaging you want. Still, luck has to factor in somewhere. Try blogging with Madam Auring and see if you have that “asim” leverage.
Bloggingly yours, blog-kada Dear blog-kada
